A reader writes:

I mean they are as safe as houses and blackberry and apple crumble in late summer, as dependable as your friendly bank manager (perhaps not Brummie Howard someone seems to have blown the whistle on him) and those Blue Chip Investments they sell you. Aren’t they?

My nephew is a dependable doctor but then he’s a trick cyclist and changes/heals peoples’ minds.
